Claires Court Maidenhead

from Nursery to Sixth Form

Mrs Wilding's Weekly Words Lent 6

We have had some lovely conversations about who we love and I hope that you adore the Valentine cards the children have made for you. The children have been talking about their families as well as the objects and toys they love. They have printed patterns with hearts, threaded hearts, counted hearts and painted clay hearts that they have made. Even our maths activity of naming shapes and matching included a heart!

As part of their topic about their school the Nursery classes have gone on some lovely walks discovering the offices, dining room, maintenance rooms, sports hall, swimming pool and the grounds. They have made life sized pictures by drawing around children and made burgundy coloured paint to colour the uniform. Transition have talked about where their homes are situated; landscapes and buildings near their homes; their addresses and have then made pictures using this information to create a street.

During the week commencing Monday 24 February the Nursery children will be learning about 'my planet earth', the colour blue, the number 6 and the letter h. Any small toys incorporating blue would be ideal as their 'show and tell' item this week. Transition children will be learning about 'what we can recycle' and the letter k. Remember the weekend is the ideal time to talk to your children about our topic and to encourage them to find things to bring in which you have talked about together.

We wish everybody a very happy half term holiday and look forward to seeing everyone rested and ready for the start of spring.

Reminders

  • Please check your email as the '2build a profile' observations of your child for this half term have been sent to you. We appreciate acknowledgement of receipt and any comments about your child.
  • Please do not send sweets into school in your child’s pocket. This is a potential choking risk and a potential health risk to others if your child generously decides to share the bounty.
