Mrs Kirby's words Lent week 7

From Mrs Ainsley
Welcome back. I hope you had a happy and healthy half term.
There's definitely a feeling of new beginnings in the air, whether it's with nature giving us a taste of what's to come, or maybe the recent government announcements. Whatever it is, I feel a happy and uplifting feeling since returning to school.
Of course, your children never fail to bring a smile to our faces and this week has been no exception. They have bounced back in, ready for this term’s learning and we have been excited to have some of our children return after their time at home during lockdown. It’s lovely to have you back.
Our topic this week has been dentists. They have learnt about what a dentist’s job is and the tools they use to look after their teeth.
There have been science experiments, looking at how various things affect teeth. The children were very knowledgeable about what food and drinks they should and shouldn’t eat. (That scuppered any plans I had for eating a chocolate digestive at snack time).
Hopefully, with the work that has been done on dentists and teeth this week, when lockdown is fully lifted your children will feel happy and confident going to visit a dentist and showing them what they have learnt and allow them to look at their teeth.
Thursday 4 March is World Book Day. We would like to invite the children to come to nursery dressed as their favourite book character and to bring the book that the character is from. We will then read as many books as we can and allow the children to be totally emerged in books, characters and vocabulary for the day.
In addition to this, Mrs Stay, Head of Pastoral at Junior Boys, has been reading stories and adding a drama theme to some online videos. Take a look here. I think the children will love them. Instead of directing pupils to external story resources, we thought they would enjoy seeing a familiar face sharing some of the most popular children's books.
