Nursery Words Summer Week 10

We had a fantastic day this week at BCA Zoo. Our day started with an exciting ride on the minibus or coach to the zoo not far from here in Pinkneys Green where we were met by a lovely lady called Emily who was our guide for the day.
We saw lemurs, monkeys, meerkats and Eastern Asian otters. We were told that lemurs have 26 rings around their tails and 26 bones in their tails. The otters apparently, despite looking very cuddly, are their most aggressive residents of the zoo. Ahh look at his little face further down, he looks such a good boy!
The otter was very keen to pose for me.
Our next stop was the tropical house where the children discovered snakes, hissing cockroaches, frogs and lizards. They were even brave enough to hold or stroke them.
After a quick pit stop of a snack and a drink, we made our way down to the farm. Here the children were able to feed the goats and move amongst the chickens, hens and turkeys.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip and the many sleeping children on the journey home was a sign of all the fresh air they had that day.
Yesterday, we were treated to a wonderful performance by all of our nursery children. I had tears in my eyes during the first song and had to pull myself together.
Like with all of our special occasions, the children take them in their stride. They visibly and genuinely enjoy participating, and an added bonus is that the performances are incredible. As I wrote in the programme, the thank you has to go to all the staff who were involved yesterday. Without them these occasions couldn’t go ahead.
As this is my last bulletin of the term, I would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a happy and healthy Summer holiday!
