Mrs Wilding's Words Lent 9

The nursery children have enjoyed the topic on “shapes with curves”, enjoyed their movement sessions using scarves to create circles, used chalk and shaving foam to draw curves and have played with lots of curved objects such as cylinders and spheres, developing their language accordingly.
It has been a week of discovery. Life is in our pond again and seeing frogs, newts and spawn means that the life cycles are starting afresh. The shape of the spawn linked well with our curves theme this week. Some has found its way into a tank in the Transition room so watch out for little frogs in a few weeks’ time!
Transition children have talked about cylinders, how to make them and then created binoculars and rainmakers. They searched their classroom and discovered lots of cylindrical items.
During the week commencing 13th March the nursery children will continue learning about Shapes with curves, the colour yellow, the number 9 and the letter w. Any small toys incorporating these would be ideal as their “Show and Tell” item this week. Transition children will be learning about Boxes, the colours black and white and the letter d.
