Claires Court Maidenhead

from Nursery to Sixth Form

Head's Words Lent Term Week 8

The children enjoyed their “World Book Day” experience of dressing up in their favourite book character costume and many thanks for the donations which totalled £30.00 and will go to our 3 for 3 charities.

The children all have a £1.00 book token for spending in their favourite bookshop. Nursery classes have been busy creating pictures of their families and some lovely displays have been put up in their rooms.

Transition children have learnt lots about their senses, making ear headbands and going on a listening walk around the main school and garden, carrying out smelling experiments and trying to decide the aromas given off by coffee, onion, vinegar, chocolate, orange Nursery reading for World Book Dayand banana and using their sense of touch to describe unseen objects in a covered water trough.

All the children have been making delightful cards and we wish all the mothers a very happy Mothering Sunday this weekend.

During the week commencing 9th March the nursery children will be learning about “Our homes”, the colour brown, the number 8 and the letter q. Any small toys incorporating these would be ideal as their “Show and Tell” item this week. Transition children will be learning about “My family” and the letter e.

Reminders
“3for3” is the Claires Court annual charity fundraising week for 3 local charities. As always the Nursery Department are holding a raffle for a box of child orientated goodies so please support us. Although running this week we will extend the fundraising until Friday 13th because our children have limited attendance. Raffle tickets are available each day priced at £1.00 each or 10 for £5.00. At the time of writing we have raised £77.00 but over the last 3 years we have gone well over £200.00 so please dig deep for the very worthy causes.

Cold Cookery on Wednesday afternoon will see us making stuffed peppers using peppers, couscous, courgette, tomato and sweetcorn.

Lost
Please check your child’s burgundy jumpers. Ariana’s are named and one has gone astray. If your child’s are not named please do so and if they are second hand please rename as it is very tricky for us to return one to the current owner when it has the name of a child who left a year ago! Also some plastic cutlery has gone home in the wrong lunch box so if you find it please return it as soon as possible.
