Mrs Wilding's Words Summer 6

The Transition children and some of the nursery children have had enormous fun this week visiting our Junior Boys site, Ridgeway, where they have explored the grounds and the trees, discussing the importance of trees for the environment and undertaking leaf printing and rubbing. The site lends itself to a forest school approach to learning and the children worked together to create dens with logs and branches they had discovered.
A big thank you goes to Stewart Stevens, our site manager, who has driven the groups of children in the school minibus. Back here the children have been outside enjoying the beautiful weather and creating wonderful pictures of trees and bark rubbings in our own garden area.
During the week commencing 5th June the nursery children will be learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, the colour orange, the number 6 and the letter g. Any small toys incorporating topic related items or orange would be ideal as their “Show and Tell” item this week. Transition children will be learning about minibeasts and the letter c.
Thank you
As this half term comes to a close I must make a very big thank you to our PTA for organising the “Masquerade Ball” a couple of weeks ago which was hugely enjoyed by all who went. Such events require an enormous amount of planning, time, effort and dedication and the PTA proved that they have this in bucket loads! As a result of all their hard work we benefit enormously as a Department with regular gifts of exciting equipment and items such as the Sport’s Day ribbons.
Important Dates
The next big PTA fund raiser is the Summer Fete to be held on Saturday 24th June at Ridgeway, our Junior Boys site. We hope that you will all come and have great fun there with your children.
Friday 7th July will be the Nursery Department Sports Day, starting at 9.15 and ending approximately an hour later. We would like all children to take part even if Friday is not a regular session. We are beginning to practise so please send your children in wearing footwear suitable for running. Parents and friends are invited to come and watch so book a couple of hours away from your desks!
And finally….have a wonderful half term week with your children.
