Miss Barlow's Weekly Words Lent 9

Spring is here at last (ish!) ...

We can finally see light at the end of the cold tunnel we have been used to recently. The mornings are lighter and the days seem longer, plus the busyness of the Lent Term is well and truly evident!

In such a short term, we seem to pack in so much. Today our ISA Drama Troupe have been at Tring Park School competing in the ISA Drama Competition. They will be performing a very physical and dark piece of drama which they hope will impress the adjudicator; I have no doubt it will!

Today saw the first of our joint spring concert rehearsals. With two weeks to go, the tension is rising and we are getting very excited about the array of Les Mis pieces being performed.

On Monday, Reception had their first visit to Normanhurst Residential Home. The girls walked up after lunch and spent the afternoon sharing their Learning Journals with the residents. One resident said that it was her best day ever!

Yesterday, Year 3 spent the morning at Junior Boys using Lego to build skyscrapers and houses and learning how to include lights; there were many competitions as to who could build the tallest tower apparently!

On Thursday, it was Mathletics World Maths Day and some of our classes became very competitive when it came to being ranked in the top 100! Year 6 went in to the Reception class to see how high they could get (together) on the leader board. Reception finished 18th and Year 6 finished 61st in the world (out of 17, 00 schools in 200 countries)! Well done girls!

Next week is our Charity Week. As I have mentioned before, we are supporting The Link Foundation as our Local Charity and Pong Tek as our International Charity. Not only will the girls being continuing to learn more about these two amazing charities, but they will be participating and organising exciting activities to raise as much money and awareness as possible. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for supporting this.

I do hope you have a lovely weekend and Happy Mother's Day for Sunday. Many of the girls have been creating Mother's Day cards and presents which I hope you enjoy. Reception mums were invited in to celebrate with a breakfast and a sing along to Spice Girls' Mama - girl power!
