Mrs Kirby's Weekly Words Autumn 3
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious... (I had to google the spelling!)
Not only are the girls focused on their learning whether it be in music, maths, science, history or sport, they are also embarking on a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious journey. At the end of last week, Year 6 auditioned for their parts in our Christmas Production of Mary Poppins, and it's suffice to say the talent was exceptional. You might think it is rather early to be starting on this road, but starting now means that, as we near the festive period, less time will be spent off timetable. The girls are incredibly excited and Mrs Stevenson is raring to go! (She is also slightly nervous as the production we have bought is directly from Disney and they are a little strict with the content...)
This week has been full of rich activities including problem solving in maths, writing descriptive poems and a bit of rehearsing for our Harvest Festival next week. Year 6 travelled to the Living Rainforest where they learned about adaptation and interdependence, and they think they saw a sloth!
New for this year, our ICT lessons in Years 2-6 are being taught by Mr Laouira. These commenced this week and Google Classroom, it seems, is a big hit in Year 2. I'm sure we will see a lot more to come from these sessions.
Finally, I set the photography club a challenge this week: to capture photos which reflect each of our Golden Rules. Our Golden Rules are what we live by here at Claires Court Junior Girls: We treat others as we would like to be treated, We are kind and helpful, We forgive, We share, We are honest, We listen to each other and We try to be our best self. Following these values makes us good citizens and kind human beings. I am looking forward to seeing what photos they have come up with!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, especially Year 5 who are at Marchants Hill on their residential trip. I look forward to seeing many of you next week at our Harvest Festival.
