Mrs Kirby's Weekly Words Autumn 6
When I grow up, I want to be...
... a teacher is what I wanted to be and how lucky am I that I was able fulfil my ambition.
This week, we celebrated Big Me week; a week dedicated to raising awareness of the work ActionAid do to help those around the world who are under-privileged. Anna from ActionAid, taught us that £30 can buy toys and games for children who have nothing at all and that just £1 can send a child to school in Africa for 2 weeks!
On Thursday, International Day of the Girl, not only did we welcome Anna in to our assembly to teach us, we also had the great pleasure of dressing up as what we aspire to be when we grow up. There were (to name a few) doctors, nurses, policewomen, artists, a forager, chefs, singers, actresses, hairdressers, tennis players, hockey players, dressage riders, sports teachers, a tattoo-artist and we even had an elf! It was a magical day of aspiration and fun whilst also thinking of those who are not as privileged as we are. Thank you for all of your support and effort in making the costumes and today so special.
Also this week...
On Monday this week, we welcomed Mrs Helm to CCJG to run a workshop for our Young Leaders group. Mrs Helm taught the girls about the role of a leaders, how to build rapport and how to communicate on the right level. Thank you so much to Mrs Helm for taking the time to come in and work with the pupils.
Year 1 visited the Sounding Arch on Tuesday as part of their sound topic in Science; Year 3 have been writing "We're going on a Stone Age Hunt" as part of their Stone Age topic; Year 6 have been continuing on with their Amazon Textiles project, creating an Amazon scene using a wide variety of materials; and all the classes have been completing their Christmas Card (I know!) designs.
Next week, Year 6 are off on their River Studies trip to Osmington Bay for the week.
Thank you for another successful Parents' Evening on Wednesday evening and I look forward to seeing many of you at the Fireworks tomorrow evening.
Have a wonderful weekend!
