Mrs Kirby's Weekly Words Autumn 10
Winter is well and truly here!
Mornings are now spent scraping cars, wrapping up warm and remembering to pack Christmas play costumes! Christmas is on its way but the girls are still enjoying lots of exciting events and learning experiences.
This week, Year 3 travelled to the Chiltern Open Air Museum to learn all about the Stone Age and even met a real life Stone Age man! The girls got stuck in to making spears and covering their faces in charcoal to camouflage themselves!
Year 2 also ventured out to the National Archives. The girls wowed the staff with their knowledge of the Great Fire of London and were able to find evidence to show that Thomas Farrinor was in fact a real person living on Pudding Lane!
On Monday, our swimming squad competed at the ISA Regional Swimming Competition. Well done to all of the competitors including Rhiannon who won two Golds and is off to represent London West at Nationals next week.
I was visited this week by two Year 6 pupils from our Podcasting Club. The girls came to interview me about a range of things including teaching and who inspired me when I was growing up (I also had to answer quick fire questions about likes and dislikes!) It was a great way to start my day, I have to say.
Year 5 should be congratulated this week for limiting the amount of technology and screen time they have used. Miss Philp set the challenge last Friday and the class have done very well; some of the girls thought it was easier than they had thought it would be and haven't missed their technology too much. Well done Year 5!
Thank you to all of those who attended our Parent Workshops yesterday evening. We thoroughly enjoyed your company and participation during our workshops, even if the Maths Problem Solving session was a little challenging!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
