Mrs Kirby's Weekly Words Lent 4
Let me tell you a story...
... about National Storytelling Week. We have been celebrating the telling of stories in a number of different ways since Monday. In assembly the girls watched Miss Sadler (and Ellie and Charlene) tell the story set in a forest; the girls imaginations were captivated as lights and sounds filled the hall. Mrs Copeman and Mrs Kirkup have been telling stories to each class this week, and yesterday saw each class swap books. Some classes have been writing their own stories, and I visited Year 3 this week to read a story about friendship.
Also this week...
Scholarships were a huge success on Friday and Saturday last week with over 100 candidates applying for a range of subject areas. Year 3 enjoyed their visit to the children's concert in Guildford and Open Morning was another chance to welcome visitors to the school to see how well our pupils achieve; every single person I spoke to said how confident and friendly the Year 6 guides were.
Year 6, this week, have been learning about gender stereotypes and have written poems about being a girl, entitled 'Just because...' All will be displayed in the atrium for you to see but here are a few finished examples:
Happy snow day and have a lovely weekend.
All awards will be handed out next week and written up in next week's bulletin as to not spoil the surprise!
