Head's Words Summer Term Week 10

Another egg-cellent, egg-citing and egg-hilarating week at Claires Court!  Reception took a trip to Mr and Mrs McArdle’s farm to learn about eggs. The girls saw how the egg belt works, they saw over 6000 chickens (!) and also learned that these eggs are delivered to the Ritz amongst other customers! The girls were lucky enough to bring some eggs back with them to the class and made omelettes and boiled, fried and scrambled eggs! Very yummy indeed!

Year 4 were visited by an ex-colleague of ours, Miss Robinson, who has been travelling the world. She came to talk to the class about her exploration of the rainforest in Ecuador. The girls were thrilled to see her and they learned a lot from her first-hand experience.

We also welcomed another visitor, Dr Pickford, to Year 2 on Thursday, Dr Pickford taught the girls all about the seaside food chain and what happens in a  rock pool. The Year 2 girls tasted salt water and also looked at how many lines of symmetry a starfish has! How many does it have….?

In assembly this week we awarded the girls who took part in the London West ISA Athletics competition their medals. We celebrated all of their successes and learned that 9 records were broken! It was a very proud moment to see these girls accept their medals and the applause they deserve. Many of the girls who competed are off to ISA Nationals next week.

On the topic of our assembly, we started with a dance from some of the Year 3s. The girls have been working hard to create a dance which they performed to the whole of Junior Girls this morning.  It was a wonderful way to start our day and their skills, collaboration and performing technique shone!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you at the Summer Fete tomorrow. Don’t forget to support our girls dancing their Country Dance at 1pm!
