Mr Spanswick's Words Summer 9

Dear Parents and Guardians
Another week comes to a close, but one where we have welcomed our Junior pupils back for the last three weeks of term. Both pupils and staff have happy stories to tell and wide smiles... as I am sure many parents do too!
Summer holiday camps
We are in the process of evaluating what we can offer the Claires Court community as a ‘holiday camp’. While at the time of writing summer holiday camps are not allowed to run in the traditional way due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are hoping the government will ease the parameters to allow us to apply our same rigorous safety measures that are in place at school to the camp, so we can offer some opportunities to our families.
I would also like to support our pupils in Year 7, 8 and 9 who haven’t been able to return to school, with a chance to have a holiday camp provision for older children (who may normally feel that camp is not ‘cool’). These three year groups have had no physical contact at school, and providing optional sports or arts camps for them is a real ambition of mine. I envisage these as being traditional camps, no screens, no work, little equipment, just good old fashioned socialising, running around and getting back to nature!
Whether we are able to offer what we would like to is led by government updates and out of our hands, and as you can imagine, will have its additional costs due to the extra staffing costs and safety control measures that are required. I know the summer holidays will be a concern for some families and I wanted to share our vision - we will update you as we move to the end of term.
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes
Justin Spanswick
