Mrs Kirby's Words Week 6
Half term has come around incredibly quickly but then it always does! Although some things have been different, much has remained the same; the girls’ enthusiasm, their energy and their kindness. Nothing will stop these things whether we are in school or not after half term.
This week Year 2 have enjoyed (I think?!) travelling back to the Great Fire of London and learning all about how the fire started and how it was put out, whilst Year 5 took a trip back to Tudor times to find out about the clothes they wore. Year 5 also had a lesson with our Food Tech Mrs Irons teacher, using their senses to try lots of different things.
Our assembly this week was based on ‘hope’. Mrs King discussed what the difference is between a wish and a hope and then went on to tell the story of the hope-a-potamus; an animal who learns to never give up. Hope is something we should all have for our futures, near or far. Even in the most difficult times, ‘once you have hope, anything is possible’ (Christopher Reeve).
Our other assembly this week (as always) was our celebration assembly and I thought it would be nice to show you a screenshot of how these look. It is so nice to still be able to connect and engage as a school even though we can’t be in the same room.
Today we are sending chromebooks and chargers home with everyone (including Year 1 and 2) as well as some resources and/or books (where appropriate). This is just in case we are in a ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown after half term. We are really hoping this does not happen, but if it does we want to be prepared. In the event of this happening, School will continue to use Google Classroom (Mrs James will contact Reception parents via email) and their regular timetables will be followed. More information will be sent home if needed.
