Claires Court Maidenhead

from Nursery to Sixth Form

Mrs Kirby's words Autumn week 8

Another week has gone by and the boys and girls continue to demonstrate positivity and enthusiasm at every turn. This week, our main focus has been on ‘Remembrance’ and, across the divisions, we marked this special occasion on Thursday by all participating in an online Remembrance Service and observed a 2-minute silence at 11am.

Last week the year 6 boys and year 5 and 6 girls enjoyed many activities either in school or on tour to Bristol. So much fun was had, and we are so very proud of each and every one of them.

Miss Sadler hosted the virtual Remembrance Assembly before Junior Girls joined Senior Girls and Sixth Form on the field for a short act of remembrance for those who lost their lives whilst serving their country in war. Claires Court Combined Cadet Force (CCF) led the service by remembering past Claires Court Pupils who were lost in the First World War and then traditional Remembrance Poetry was shared before The Last Post was played over the PA system, in Mr Gravett's absence. Thank you so much to Mrs O'Clee from Senior Girls for organising everything.

Year 3 girls have embraced their ‘Stones and Bones’ topic this week by taking to their ‘caves’ to create Cave Paintings. They thoroughly enjoyed this exciting art lesson from a different perspective!

Lower Junior girls have been sticking to an autumn theme this week. The Reception girls travelled to Junior Boys to learn about hibernating hedgehogs and to take their own clay hedgehogs off to hibernate in the Thicket. In Year 1, following on from Bonfire night, the girls put their poetry skills to the test, using onomatopoeia to create bonfire poetry.

Thank you for your continued support in every way. Please read below a letter from the coach driver who drove the Bristol “Tourists” last week.

I would like to let you know about your students and teachers. I have been driving coaches for 6 years and I have to say, your students are to be commended on their behaviour. They are a credit to your school and your teachers. I would also like to say well done on their sporting results, but above all, their positive and friendly nature.

Your teachers are some of the most dedicated and caring staff I have ever seen. It is a joy to see people so happy and dedicated to their work and who care so much for their students. It has been a pleasure to be their driver over this tour. Please pass this on to the staff, children and parents as you see best because you are blessed in both students and definitely in staff.

Yours sincerely,

Aaron L - Driver for Travellers

Have a lovely weekend.
