Claires Court

Claires Court Maidenhead

from Nursery to Sixth Form

Mrs Kirby's words Autumn week 12

We made it...just! At the beginning of this term, I was determined to ensure the pupils had as-normal an experience as possible and we just about managed it. Yes we had to change the Carol Services, cancel some sports fixtures and adjust our Nativity audience participation but on the whole we have succeeded with our quest! Much has been enjoyed this term including our Forest School sessions, trips to Stonehenge, the Reading Museum (Reading the town not reading books!), Ufton Court and Bristol for the Sports Tour. We have success in the pool, playing instruments and on horseback, as well as a lot of success in the classroom, according to the impressive reports I have read.

Thank you to our pupils for remaining resilient to any changes, positive when things may have seemed difficult or new and well-mannered and polite at all times.

At the end of term, there is always the possibility that we have to say goodbye to colleagues and this year we have to say farewell to some amazing people.

Firstly, we say goodbye to Mrs Louise Turner who has been at Claires Court supporting pupils in many ways for 7 years. Her knowledge, skill and passion will be sorely missed by both pupils and staff alike. Louise leaves us to enjoy time with her family (and hopefully some travelling too!) and we wish her all the very best.

Miss Annabelle Samios also leaves Claires Court Junior Boys at the end of this term. Miss Samios and her partner, Will, are travelling back to Australia to be with family and hopefully continue their careers as successful teachers. I would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Samios for her support and amazing work in many areas of the school; across both Junior schools, Nursery, in Extended Care and Holiday Club. You will be missed by us all but wish you all the very best back home and hope that you enjoy the well deserved time with your family!

Lastly, the time has come to say goodbye to the FABULOUS Mrs Linda Stay. Linda has been at Claires Court for almost 17 years. She became a qualified teacher whilst at the school and to say she has made an immense difference in the education and Pastoral Care the Junior Boys receive, would be an understatement.

We really are going to miss Linda’s expertise, knowledge and talents as well as her personality, enthusiasm and energy. She will leave a hole at Junior Boys but we wish her all the best in her new role as Headteacher of Lea Nursery School.

Next term, we welcome Mrs Caroline Broadway to our Year 6 team of teachers as well as Mrs Chalk and Mrs Carey to our SEND team.

Thank you for all of your continued support this term. There have been many times which have forced us to remain agile and ready to change at a moment’s notice, but your support and trust have helped us make the right decisions for your children.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
