Mrs Kirby's words Lent week 4

What a fantastic week it has been! The girls and boys have been incredibly busy enjoying a wide range of exciting learning opportunities.

This morning brought us real cross country weather but I am sure the boys and girls who are competing at the ISA Regional Competition today will give it their all and enjoy the challenge of a new course and running against athletes that they do not know.

This week we have celebrated Chinese New Year in lots of different ways and in our assembly we talked about the characteristics of the different animals of the Chinese zodiac. This year is the Year of the Tiger; those born in the Year of the Tiger are brave, value independence and have a strong sense of justice. In which year were you born?

Our Year 4 girls and boys participated in their first football match this week. Well done to all involved. Miss Hudson and Mr Butterfield were incredibly proud of the children and their efforts!

In our Celebration Assembly today, it was wonderful to see the strong relationships between adults and pupils and the many varied ways we can find down time, enjoy or develop a hobby, increase our self esteem or simply create some unstructured time to play with friends. This week we have seen swimmers, chess players, artists and performers all achieve successes and plenty of Merits have been awarded as well.

Next week is Children’s Mental Health Awareness week and the theme is Growing Together. We look forward to some workshops for the boys and girls and lots of classroom activities linked to this. We will be encouraging children (and adults) to consider how they have grown, and how they can help others to grow.

Have a wonderful weekend.
