Mrs Kirby's Words Lent Week 7

There has been lots of excitement this week and it has certainly been fun filled!

Forest School continues to be enjoyed in the good old British weather and this week the children were given the problem of how to create a stretcher for an injured person. They used their problem-solving, creative thinking and collaboration skills to build stretchers that could carry their casualty to safety!

Also on Tuesday, most of our Junior Girls celebrated Shrove Tuesday. We had lots of creative activities to learn about why Shrove Tuesday is celebrated and of course couldn’t pass up the opportunity to enjoy some pancakes with lots of different toppings. The Year 2 girls and boys got together for the whole afternoon and enjoyed learning about Shrove Tuesday. They even put faces on their pancakes! The Upper Junior girls also enjoyed some traditional Shrove Tuesday activities and participated in pancake flipping relay races!

On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day in style with a much anticipated face to face assembly led by Miss Sadler and Mrs Copeman. We had the opportunity to see everyone’s costumes, play some Emoji book title games and to talk about the importance of reading for enjoyment as much as possible! Year 3 girls and boys enjoyed a perfectly timed trip to Roald Dahl Children’s gallery on Thursday in their World Book Day outfits. The teachers and children looked outstanding in their chosen outfits! Great effort, everyone!

Next week we look forward to some taster sessions with Little Musketeers for all pupils. At JG, we started offering these sessions as a club after school and it has proven to be very popular already! This taster session will help the children to decide if they would like to join our other musketeers in the summer term.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Best Wishes

Mrs Kirby
