Mrs Kirby's Words Lent Week 11

“We rise by lifting others” (Robert Ingersoll) and this idea certainly has been at the forefront of all our minds this week.
Our two appeals for ‘School Drive’ and the ‘Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal’ have definitely focused our concentration and the pupils have planned a wide range of mini enterprises and fairground style games to encourage each other to donate, compete and enjoy contributing. The thought and interest has allowed all ages to mix freely and brought our community together. All the various prizes will be awarded during Tuesday's assembly and the giant teddy bear might need a car seat all of its own!
Reception, Year One and Two pupils all thoroughly enjoyed the Science shows on Thursday. They provided super opportunities for our youngest minds to explore, think and reason as well as be practically involved in creating a love of learning. These events are just a joy to behold.
We look forward to seeing all the pupils come to school in their PE kit on Monday and plenty of cheering spectators on site in the afternoon for the House Cross Country (there is not a parents’ race!). Please also remember to book in for the Work Share on Wednesday.
As well as all of this, it has been “Show Week” at Junior Girls! Beauty and the Beast has been long in the planning and all the rehearsals, hard work and preparation came to fruition, resulting in the most amazing performance yesterday afternoon and evening. The acting, dancing and singing was mesmerising and I always sit in awe of these young individuals who achieve such great things. Mrs Stevenson has outdone herself once again (along with the help of the brilliant Miss Walters!)
Finally, good luck to Miss Kujawa who becomes Mrs Lilley on Saturday. Wishing you all the best for an amazing wedding! I’m sure the sun will shine for you.
Best wishes
Mrs Kirby
