Mrs Kirby's Words Summer Week 8
Sunshine, happiness, success, preparation, teamwork and enjoyment are words that spring to mind from this incredible week.
I hope that tomorrow’s Junior PTA Fete is also a fabulous event where we can all connect, have fun and reestablish one of the great days of the Claires Court Calendar. I know a lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes so, Thank you in advance to the Committee and all the helpers.
On Monday we had the return of another Summer Term favourite with our Year 3 to 6 informal concert. As always, the girls did a fantastic job of demonstrating their progress in so many different ways. We enjoyed a combination of whole class, group and solo performances. We were excited to see the Year 4 girls' instrumental project perform in their groups on the cello, violin, trumpet and flute. In the solo performances, we also have some exceptional piano playing and our first clarinet. Huge thanks to the girls for their exceptional performances and of course, thanks to Mrs Stevenson and the team of peripatetic music teachers, who did a wonderful job in organising the event and making sure the girls were ready to perform. We certainly do keep her busy with our Summer Term musical events! Next week we look forward to our Lower Junior Jubilee musical picnic for Lower Juniors and then we have our joint Year 3 to 6 Music on the Lawn the following week.
On Wednesday our new pupils and present pupils enjoyed their Moving Up session. The teachers were all very excited about their new classes. The girls participated in some wonderful ‘getting to know you’ activities with friendship cakes in Reception and a visit from the Three Bears to welcome the girls to Year 1. The Year 6 girls enjoyed some team building games with the parachute outside in the sun and the staff and pupils thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Mr Grist and Mrs Crowe a little better. We look forward to having them both as a part of the Junior Girls team in September.
A slightly slower paced day on Thursday saw Year 4 boys and girls visit Ufton Court. Their Science curriculum work was extended by becoming animal estate agents for the day with researching, discovering, thinking and plenty of entertaining learning on habitats.
Finally, our Year 6 girls will have the opportunity to shine and demonstrate their leadership skills this afternoon as they lead the rest of the Junior Girls in our National Sports afternoon. The afternoon will be spent challenging and developing their skills in a variety of areas including throwing, catching, hitting and jumping, all guided by Year 6. Very well done to our Year 6 pupils for their efforts in supporting Miss Hudson in this wonderful event!
I am sure I will see many of you at the PTA Summer Fete tomorrow, but if not I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
