Mrs Kirby's Weekly Words - Week 9
The summer term is flying by, but we still have so much to do and look forward to! This week has been packed with a huge selection of events and activities that have been enjoyed by all!
Sports Days on both sites; including the first ever two-year-old ‘sprint races!’ in our Nursery School. Combined with the races, throws and jumps by all the Junior Girls and Boys these were magical moments to treasure as a competitor, parent and educator. Achievements and effort were enthusiastically celebrated alongside plenty of good competitiveness and fun. The house winners on the day for Juniors girls were St Therese. Very well done to everyone involved for the efforts in making things run smoothly. We all earned our ice lolly at the end of the afternoon!
We also sent various year groups off site this week. Year 6 all benefited from a great learning experience at the Design Museum where they investigated creating football shirts and stadiums design as well discovering the cost and pricing of various items.
Towards the end of the week Year 5 boys cricket and Year 4, 5 & 6 girls athletics tourists had an incredible time away on Thursday and Friday. Those that stayed behind also developed their wider thinking with an off timetable activity programme with sporting challenges, Dragons Den competition, as well as rocket design and launching and further environmental studies.
Our Lower Juniors were able to take centre stage on Thursday afternoon and they entertained us all with a tremendous concert on the lawn at Junior Boys. Well they should have, but the rain showers scuppered that plan. Nonetheless, the team pulled together and quickly recreated the event within the Sports Hall. Regardless of the setting, their enthusiastic singing and plenty of talent helped us all come together to toast their successful year. I was very sad to miss the excitement, but I have heard how wonderful it was!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend
