Miss Barlow's Words Autumn Term Week 1

Welcome back to another Year at Claires Court Junior Girls. We are delighted to welcome all newcomers both pupils and parents to our School community.

We are only two days into the new term and already the girls have been hard at work producing many things to be proud of. In Reception, the girls have settled in well and were quick to discover the role play area. Today they have made friendship cakes which were delicious! The girls in Year 1 have been introduced to their class mascot (Stripey Horse - Rosie’s equivalent!) who they will take home and recall details of the fun times they share. In Year 2, mindfulness has been introduced through “Tiara Time” which is a chance for the girls to reflect and have quiet time in the present moment. All of Year 3 have settled in well to the routines of Upper Juniors and have completed many pieces of excellent work including “a snapshot of my summer”. In Year 4, the girls have created friendship and “what makes us unique” venn diagrams and they have written beautiful letters to Miss Pelizzari about their summer holiday. Year 5 have already entered the Maidenhead and Me Art competition as the deadline is next week. Not only this, but they have created wearable items out of recycled items and performed a fashion show! And finally our oldest members in Year 6 have created wonderful learning promises identifying the outstanding things they hope to achieve this year.

Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, Prefects and House Captains

Today I spoke with the girls about these roles. This may be something they would like to talk about or discuss at home with you. More information will follow next week.

Activities

Thank you to those who have already handed in their forms. A reminder that the deadline is Monday 12 September. Next week new Homework Club for Lower Juniors (Reception - Year 2) and Study for Upper Juniors (Year 3 - 6) is available from Monday to Thursday. Please let your Class Teacher know if your daughter would like to take advantage of this provision. Also next week, we have some sport taster sessions and sailing will commence on Tuesday 13 September. Those who have signed up will have confirmation of places by the end on Monday.

Random Acts of Kindness

This morning in assembly we talked about kindness. Did you know that there was such a thing as a RAKTIVIST? We discussed what an act of kindness could be and as of Monday the grils will be encouraged to share any random acts of kindness that they see or experience our new RAK post boxes located in Lower Juniors and Upper Juniors.

“The positive effects of kindness are experienced in the brain of everyone who witnessed the act, improving their mood and making them significantly more likely to “pay it forward.” This means one good deed in a crowded area can create a domino effect and improve the day of dozens of people!"

A spotlight on…

As of next week, I will be shining a spotlight on an area of our school, giving more information on how we do things. Next week the focus will be Spelling.
