Miss Barlow's Words Lent 5

This week has been National Storytelling Week and the girls have been telling stories, hearing stories and writing stories. One of the highlights was when the older classes visited the younger classes to share stories. As well as this, every class have been encouraged to tell stories in a variety of ways. Year 6 decided to use Rap to tell a story linked to their topic of ‘The Unexplained’ (you can see a video of this below) and the class were took part in a storytelling activity which invited them to jump in to take on a character from the story of Chun Ping.
In Year 5, the girls were asked to help teach pupils in Year 2 about stories; they asked questions and helped the listeners with the meaning behind their chosen story. (Going by the video clip which you can see here, us teachers might need to watch our backs!) In Year 4, the girls became archaeologists to discover the tomb of Tutankhamun whilst in Year 3, the class celebrated National Storytelling Week by starting to plan their own traditional fairytale, with a twist.
The girls in Year 2 have not only been getting ready for their Great Fire of London performance next week but have also been learning more about different castles around the United Kingdom.
In Year 1, the class have been planning their dinosaur stories using story cards to help them with their ideas.
The Reception girls not only shared stories but also found time to travel to Junior Boys on Thursday to spend time building dens in the Thicket!
Thank you to all of the mums and grandmas who came into school this week to read their favourite story.
