Miss Barlow's Words Lent 9

“Take every chance, drop every fear and always reach for the stars!”
In assembly this morning, I asked the girls: “What have we enjoyed this week?” The list was huge! Reception’s Bug Hunt, Year 1’s Houses and Homes Walk, ISA Hockey, U10A Netball Match vs The Magnets, two Spring Concerts, International Women’s Day plus it was also Career’s Week!
Without wanting to exclude the other events of this week at all, I must take some time to talk about the success of our Informal Spring concerts. When I first joined Claires Court, 5 years ago, our informal concerts were good but they weren’t GOODsell! Hester Goodsell has injected enthusiasm, engagement and increased the amount of girls playing instruments and singing in the choir by an exceptional amount. To see our Year 4 instrumental project perform in groups as well as together (playing a piece of music they had composed themselves, might I add!) after only a term and a half, was incredible. The choir was bigger than ever, singing Mama Mia with “traditional” Swedish dance moves; making a wonderful sound with, once again, enjoyment and enthusiasm. From Reception to Year 6, every girl performed whether it was as part of their class, individually or as an ensemble. The skill and talent was excellent and all this as part of an “informal” concert. I cannot wait to see what our Summer Soiree has to bring!
