Miss Barlow's Weekly Words Summer 3
A four day week hasn't stopped us packing in 5 days worth of learning!
In our Junior Girls gallery this week, you will see pictures of Year 5 enjoying the RAF Museuem in Hendon, Year 2 searching the pond habitat, Reception are teaching "Counting Crow" to count in twos, lucky dip maths and making clothes for the teddies of the class and Year 6 being inspired by Director of Music, Miss Goodsell's rowing and teaching journey.
The girls were in complete awe of Miss Goodsell's achievments and her ability to overcome obstacles. The girls were mesmerised but did ask intriguing questions and were left feeling encouraged and motivated. Her message was simple: have determintion to achieve your dreams!
This visit from Miss Goodsell to the Year 6 class is part of their topic 'Thinking Big' but having an inspirational and influential female role model to learn about is a big part of our PSHEE curriculum. Last term, for example, Year 1 learned about Mary Anning, the first female fossil hunter whilst Year 5 learned about Anne Frank.
Having role models is important. A lot can be learned and taken from other people's journey's to success. The girls learn that taking risks and learning to fail are all parts of life and hearing from someone who has overcome obstacles and come out the otherside is incredibly powerful.
Who is your role model in life?
Have a wonderful weekend
