Claires Court The Story So Far
Claires Court is a family school, providing a high quality education for nearly 1100 local young people aged 3 to 18 years. As a broad ability day school, we are the only one in the UK to offer families a diamond shape education starting at Reception and ends at Year 11.
Founded in 1960 by our current Principals’ parents, Claires Court has roots in Maidenhead stretching back to 1861. Starting with just 19 pupils, the school has grown to become the largest private day school in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead with 55% of children on roll residents within the Borough. We play a significant part supporting events in the local community and the school is the Borough’s tenth largest employer, with over 200 of the 400 staff living locally.
The school is currently split across three sites with Senior Boys at Ray Mill Road East, Junior Boys at Ridgeway off Cannon Lane and Nursery, Junior Girls, Senior Girls and Sixth Form at College Avenue.
In 2013, the Principal’s announced their vision for a united Claires Court campus and construction of a new school. Then ensued a lengthy planning, feedback and consultation process. Then in December 2017 Claires Court, with Maidenhead Hockey Club and Berkeley Homes, submitted plans for our new school campus at Cannon Lane, adjacent to Claires Court’s current site for Junior Boys at Ridgeway. During the feedback process our school community made it very clear that the school values and ethos should remain the same and so boys and girls will continue to be educated during their Junior and Senior years separately, and Nursery and Sixth Form will remain a co–educational provision.
Applications refused by the planning panel
On Wednesday 28 August 2019, the Maidenhead Area Development Management Panel voted to refuse Claires Court's applications for a new school campus at Cannon Lane. Further information about next steps will be released at a later date.
