Budding Artists Through To National Finals

Schools across Berkshire recently came together to exhibit their pupils’ finest pieces of artwork at the ISA London West Region Art Competition and our pupils’ were awarded an astonishing eleven prizes.
The event, held at Norden Farm on Tuesday 2 October, displayed artwork from Reception pupils to Sixth Formers, ranging from paintings, textiles and photography, to digital art and animation.
Claires Court pupils brought home seven firsts, three seconds and one third prize, with pieces including a photograph of patterned wood, a sculpture of a shark and a self-portrait. The winning pieces now head to the national final later in November.
Cleo Sloggett, Year 12 student, who achieved first prize in the competitive Key Stage 4 Fashion Textiles category, said:
“I was so pleased to hear I’d won as my entry was the first dress I’ve ever made. It was my final piece for my GCSE textiles exam, and I created it in 10 hours from upcycled materials. My future plan is to study Fashion Design or Fashion Marketing at university.”
Martyn Goddard, Head of Art at Junior Boys, added:
“The competition, as always, was fierce with many fine pieces of artwork being displayed across the different categories that ranged from Sculpture, to Fashion, to Textiles. We have a great depth of talented artists in our School.”
