Swimming 154 Laps For Charity
As ever, Claires Court had a great turnout at the annual Lions Club of Maidenhead Swimarathon, of both swimmers and supporters from Year 12 and Year 13.
Thirteen students took part in the 55 minute relay at the Magnet Leisure Centre to raise funds for The Lions Club of Maidenhead and the School’s Gambia Project, which is helping support Charity Pearl The Gambia in its efforts to make substantial improvements to day to day life in the Brufut area.
There was fantastically fast swimming from everyone and, until lap 44, both teams were neck and neck but the Year 12s gradually edged in front of Year 13s with the final lap total being 76 for Year 13 and a record 78 by Year 12.
Ann Burdett, Claires Court maths teacher, said:
“Thank you and well done to all those who swam or supported. Half the money raised will go to The Lions Club of Maidenhead local charities and half to the Sixth Form’s chosen charity.”
It's not too late to donate and show your appreciation for the swimmers and the Lions Club.
Donors should mention that it is for the Claires Court Sixth Form teams.
