The Great Greek Battle

Boys were transformed into Athenians and Spartans on Thursday, when they took part in a battle at school as part of their Year 6 studies on Ancient Greek Hoplite tactics.
Richard Hogg, Year 6 Teacher said;
“The boys had been hard at work over the Christmas holiday creating sturdy shields, swords, greaves, spears and helmets - all of which were very impressive!
Over three rounds the two classes had to try and keep out projectile weapons (bean bags) by forming (and maintaining) a shield wall.
They discovered how important it was to work together and how much easier it was to defend a frontal attack than one from all sides!
Well done to all our Greek warriors!”
