Catching the Library Bus

Junior Girls from Reception embarked on their own little adventure this week when they caught the public bus in order to visit Maidenhead Library!

On the journey from school to the library pupils discussed the differences between the school’s minibus and the public bus such as; making sure to catch the right numbered bus; paying for tickets; sharing the bus with others; and ringing the bell to get off!

Upon reaching their destination, pupils were greeted by enthusiastic librarian Jeanette who gave a tour of the library telling the children some interesting facts including; it is free to join the library and customers can borrow up to thirty books at a time! Pupils were then treated to a storytime and were given a chance to browse the books independently.

Suzanne James, Junior Girls Reception teacher, said:

“Pupils who were already library members had the opportunity to borrow a book and were shown how to use the self-service machines to scan their card and book. The girls who aren’t already members are now very keen to join!”
