Empowering the women of the future
In a celebration of individualism, Year 6 Junior Girls received letters of appreciation as part of an initiative to honour International Women’s Day.
On Friday 7 March, the girls were greeted with a breakfast pastry and a handwritten letter from a male member of their family, explaining what she means to them. Tears of happiness were shed as pupils read the beautiful words that had been written about them.
Jawad Laouira, Junior Girls Year 6 teacher, spoke of the importance of championing individuals and celebrating equality: “Through example, expectation and being cherished, we aim to develop learners who are resilient and full of confidence. Whilst we don’t need a day to celebrate the strong, independent women at Junior Girls, it is an opportunity to demonstrate to our pupils their value and worth both in their home life and in their school environment.”
