Splish, Splash, Slosh Week!
During the summer, Holiday Activities have exciting themed weeks. At Holiday Club the week was ‘Splish, Splash, Splosh’ themed, while Sports Club theme was ‘Swim, Bike & Run’!
The children have enjoyed many water activities and games along with indoor crafts such as making jellyfish. A visitor from the RSPB came along on one of the days to talk about what they do and how important it is to give nature a home. The children were then tasked with finding bugs around the site.
In the pool, the Kool Kids group had loads of fun learning all about snorkeling and lifeguarding skills. Scientific tests also took place experimenting with coloured water.
Sports Club have had Bikeability host three days of exciting skill based activities. Many youngsters from across the area have taken part in the Claires Court Sport Club Run, Swim and Ride entry-level event on 26, 27, 28 July.
The Go-Ride Tour has been co-ordinated by British Cycling, to give local children the opportunity to emulate their cycling heroes and get involved with cycle sport. Young riders have had the chance to take part in a number of riding sequences, challenges and competitions.
Lynne Constantine from Claires Court Holiday Club said, “We have had a great turnout for the event. It’s such an exciting summer for cycling, with Chris Froome recently winning the Tour De France. We saw from the Tour that events like this inspire so many young people to get on their bikes and we want to provide an opportunity for them to experience the thrill of cycle sport. This event has undoubtedly been one of the highlights of the year for Holiday Activities.”
Next week the theme is 'Our Green World'.
