Studying Portraits at the National Art Gallery
Year 7 girls attended the National Gallery in London as part of their autumn term project entitled 'Portraits'. Pupils were guided around the permanent collection by experts at the gallery, who discussed and engaged them in the stories behind the paintings. They then had the opportunity of drawing their own piece, selecting portraits that they found interesting from the collection.
After a short visit to the gift shop, the girls returned home tired but with some excellent drawings and photographs from the day. The trip proved to be very beneficial to the pupils and has given them much information to process and work on in lessons.
