A Spring Concert From Young Budding Musicians
Hosted by Year 4 pupils Sophie and Natalia, the Junior Girls first ever Reception to Year 4 concert began with an enthusiastic performance of 'It's a sunny day'.
Next followed a composition written by Year 4 featuring work from their topic on 'Explorers'.
The girls in Year 4 are currently learning either the flute, violin or cello as part of the Year 4 instrumental project with instruments funded by the PTA; this concert was the first time they had played in public.
Hester Goodsell, Director or Music summed up the event;
“Some confident solos and groups followed including Darcie playing the cello, just two months after starting, Charlene playing the piano with enthusiastic dynamics and the guitar ensemble singing and playing 'Stitches'. The finale was the whole school performing an enthusiastic four part round complete with audience participation. A huge thank you all the instrumental and classroom teachers and the PTA for their support and enthusiasm!”
Leanne Barlow, Head of Junior Girls said;
“The concert was an impressive occasion celebrating the breadth of music we have; from guitar groups to solo performances, the girls radiated confidence and talent throughout. The audience participation at the end was a nice (!) surprise too!”
