Delivering medicine to the local community

Senior Girl Annie, Year 7, and her family have been making the most of their daily walks and cycles by delivering medicine to members of the local community on route.

Inspired by an initiative set up by a Bristol running group to ease pressure on pharmacies, Annie’s family decided to follow their example back home in Maidenhead by delivering medication to the elderly or vulnerable who may be self-isolating. The deliveries have taken Annie all over Maidenhead, even taking her past Claires Court in College Avenue. Annie commented: “It was fun finding new parts of Maidenhead and it was a bit weird going past school too”.

Following social distancing rules, Annie carried medications in her backpack and cycled up to nine miles around Maidenhead making her deliveries.  Form tutor and Senior Girls Textiles teacher Sophie Hadley praised Annie, “This has made my day! It's so nice to see Annie in the photos and looking so happy. I think it's wonderful that your family are helping the community in this way.”
