Our New Campus
THANK YOU for your support
Our planning inquiry for the development of the Ridgeway site took place in November 2020, and the decision by the planning inspector to dismiss the planning appeals was announced on 21 December.
Hugh Wilding, Administrative Principal, said: “The news of the planning appeal to dismiss our applications is extremely disappointing for everyone involved. We will review the decision notice and what our next steps to bring our school community onto one campus and provide sporting facilities for the community could be.
“We’d like to thank all of the Claires Court community, pupils, families and staff, members of the public, and our partners, in particular Maidenhead Hockey Club and its members, who have supported our plans and been great advocates for our wonderful school and the benefits of the planning applications.
“We remain committed to providing the very best education and sports and other facilities for the benefit of people in local and surrounding areas, and will continue to do so at our three sites.”
Maidenhead Hockey Club Chair, Lindsey Lucas, added: "Maidenhead Hockey Club would like to thank Claires Court for their continued support for the club’s vision to deliver a new hockey facility to accommodate matches, training and social facilities on one site, and with Claires Court will be continuing to review the club’s next steps.”
Autumn 2020 planning inquiry appeal
We are committed to providing the best education and facilities for the benefit of people in local and surrounding areas, which we currently do across our three Maidenhead sites. Our vision is to create a single campus embracing modern design advances in sustainability and efficiency for all our pupils, from three to 18 years old, as well as providing facilities for the community, at our existing Junior Boys’ school near Maidenhead Thicket.
We were naturally disappointed by the Development Management Panel’s decision at the end of summer 2019 not to allow our applications to proceed and we have decided to use our right of appeal. We submitted our appeal in March 2020 and we are pleased to have an appeal inquiry in November. We expect to hear the outcome in new year 2021.As we returned to school in autumn 2020, and reflect on the Covid-19 pandemic, it has highlighted even more so the need for schools to be able to co-ordinate their response to the challenges of the future. Whilst we have been effectively providing online schooling and subsequently the phased re-opening of schools under government guidelines, the opportunity to develop a new school, reduce travel between three sites, and create a purpose-built spacious campus for all our pupils, parents and staff needs is very exciting.
As the Principals of Claires Court, with the backing of our Executive Headteacher, Justin Spanswick, and all our Heads, we would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that our school will remain the wonderful environment that it is for your children to learn, develop, live, thrive and be inspired. We are and will always be committed to you, our families. We reassure you that Claires Court will remain loyal to its values and we look forward to a vibrant future for our school over many years yet to come.
