Our New Campus
THANK YOU for your support
On behalf of everyone at Claires Court, we would like to thank you all for your wonderful support at the planning panel meeting, and over recent months and years. Your backing has been tremendous, and your respectful support and applause as we made our case for the new campus was uplifting on an otherwise disappointing evening. The support of the Claires Court community continues to inspire us and we will continue to get on with the ‘day job’ of running an outstanding school, to provide the best educational opportunities we can for our pupils.
Summer 2019 applications refused by the planning panel
On Wednesday 28 August 2019, the Maidenhead Area Development Management Panel voted to refuse our applications for a new school campus at Cannon Lane. We respectfully disagree with the decisions taken by the panel. The failure by Officers to consider and present the applications in a holistic, joined-up way, and instead to require councillors to look at each application separately resulted in decisions being reached without due consideration for the overall benefits that our proposals will bring. We are naturally disappointed that your voice and the more than 2,000 of you who wrote to your councillors have not been heard.
Autumn 2020 planning inquiry appeal
We are committed to providing the best education and facilities for the benefit of people in local and surrounding areas, which we currently do across our three Maidenhead sites. Our vision is to create a single campus embracing modern design advances in sustainability and efficiency for all our pupils, from three to 18 years old, as well as providing facilities for the community, at our existing Junior Boys’ school near Maidenhead Thicket.
We were naturally disappointed by the Development Management Panel’s decision at the end of summer 2019 not to allow our applications to proceed and we have decided to use our right of appeal. We submitted our appeal in March 2020 and we are pleased now that there is a date for the appeal from 18 November. As we return to school, and reflect on the Covid-19 pandemic, it has highlighted even more so the need for schools to be able to co-ordinate their response to the challenges of the future. Whilst we have been effectively providing online schooling and subsequently the phased re-opening of schools under government guidelines, the opportunity to develop a new school, reduce travel between three sites, and create a purpose-built spacious campus for all our pupils, parents and staff needs is very exciting.
As the Principals of Claires Court, with the backing of our Executive Headteacher Justin Spanswick and all our Heads, we would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that our school will remain the wonderful environment that it is for your children to learn, develop, live, thrive and be inspired. We are and will always be committed to you, our families. We reassure you that Claires Court will remain loyal to its values and we look forward to a vibrant future for our school over many years yet to come.
