From the Office
Time to think about buying your Christmas Tree?
This year we are selling non-drop Nordmann Fir Christmas Trees, from 3ft-8ft, to raise funds for the Rowing Club. Our aim is to raise enough to buy a Coxless Quad for the Senior Girls! Each tree is 15% less than the normal prices you would find in garden centres so to order, please go to http://schl.cc/dj or see further details here. You’ll be able to collect it on 3/4 December so it’ll be here in plenty of time before the big day.
Tree Planting - would you like to help?
We look forward to commencing the planting of our Jubilee Canopy trees in our fields this Saturday and for our next project; if any families would like to be involved in the expansion of our tree planting to create a 'Tiny Forest' there, I have opened up a specific slot for this on Saturday morning, 4 December. My grateful thanks to parent Simon Hawkins (Y12) who is volunteering his expert knowledge to ensure our trees successfully flourish into the longer term. - James Wilding
An introduction to Careers Resources for Y12 - Tuesday 23 November
This will be an informal meeting, specifically for parents and guardians, to learn more about the choices open to students post 18 years and to get ‘hands on’ experience of the resources available to them. It will be a lunchtime virtual meeting at 11.45am - 12.30pm. A letter for parents and a meet link will be sent on Monday.
Y13 Interview Practice workshops - Tuesday 23 November
Jane Marshall from Optimising Futures will be with us on Tuesday morning to help Y13 with interview practice. With more courses requesting interviews, this is an opportunity for Y13 to find out what helps them to impress at interviews. The interviews are arranged by faculty subjects and every Y13 has signed up to a session with Jane.
Sixth Form practice exams - Week of Monday 29 November
Sixth Form practice exams will be taking place week commencing Monday 29 November. For Year 13, these will take place within lesson time. For Year 12, who are yet to sit formal exams as actual GCSE exams did not take place, we will be recreating a more formal setting. The Y12 exam timetable has been emailed to students and parents.
Sixth Form - Help the Homeless project

In the run up to Christmas, the Sixth Form will be helping Foodshare with donations for our local rough sleepers (and those with limited accommodation and facilities).

Students will have the opportunity to go to the Foodbank and package the items for 'presents'. All donations of these items will be accepted at the Sixth Form office.
Law Apprenticeship with RPC
Do you want to see for yourself what life in a unique law firm is like? Speed networking, meeting clients, pizza-making classes, attending court and hands-on real case experience. We’ll show you the real RPC during our Summer Schemes. And be warned, it’s pretty striking.
You’ll be welcomed into our London office and given an opportunity to spend time getting to know RPC. It’s also our chance to get to know you and understand what you may be able to offer us. During these two weeks, you’ll be fully integrated into our teams, getting involved in projects and you’ll gain a fantastic insight into whether a career at RPC is right for you.
So, if you value character over conformity, the unique over the uniform, and ambition over apathy, let’s talk.
Apply now by visiting www.rpc.co.uk/strikinglyreal. Deadline for applications is 9 January 2022.

LFT regular testing and PCR
Please ensure your son or daughter is Lateral Flow Testing twice weekly and reporting results via the GOV.UK website. You can order LFT kits here and we do have a small supply for emergency use but unfortunately the school cannot supply these directly to parents anymore.
Please remember LFTs are for asymptomatic testing only, so if they display any of three main covid symptoms (temperature or cough or loss of smell), they must take a PCR test and should not come into school until you have received the results. Please inform the school of PCR test results once received. Thank you.
