Chess
It is wonderful to see so many boys joining the two chess clubs we have here at Claires Court. I am encouraging members to use lichess to improve their play using the Practice section. It’s great to be able to play a few games in school, but if you can then back this up by improving your play - all the better!
The Delancey Chess Tournament will be starting next week, and I shall be putting the draw together soon.
Over the board chess
Joseph Conlon will be running another Cheney Rapidplay event in Oxford during the February half-term on Monday 21 February 2022. In contrast to previous events, this event will also be open to adults. However, young juniors new to tournament chess would be put into a separate junior-only section. As for previous events, the format will be 8 player all-plays-alls, sorted by playing strength. The entry link is: https://forms.gle/z9L3KfWMHaTLyQtcA
Please ask if you have any queries about the event.
Maidenhead Junior Chess Club
This is back at CCJB on Saturday mornings and is suitable for beginners and those looking to improve their skills. A link to the website can be found here.
Rabbit Awards
Awarded for kindness, helpfulness and compassion doing the right thing without being asked, it is what makes our school a wonderful environment. This week our rabbits have been awarded to Kiran J (Y1) and Thomas L (Y5).
