A Close Shave For Gambia
As students and staff make final preparations for their 10 day adventure to The Gambia, Sixth Form student Tom upped the ante on fundraising efforts this week when he agreed to shave his head for charity.
Through the kind help of a former member of staff, Robert Leder, Claires Court is supporting 'Charity Pearl The Gambia' in its efforts to make substantial improvements to day to day life in the Brufut area of The Gambia.
Charity Pearl The Gambia is an organisation that has been helping families and children from a disadvantaged background in the Brufut area of The Gambia since 2012. The Gambia is an impoverished country where many parents are illiterate so the education of their children is essential to empower them to gain skills to earn a living and help support their families, which they do by:

Claires Court has already helped fund the building of the Pearl Education Centre, along with the digging of a borehole and well to provide clean water to the community in Brufut.

Fundraising efforts continue in earnest with just a week until fifteen students from Years 12 and 13 depart for The Gambia.
With fundraising well under way, our spirited Sixth Form students are excited as their ten day adventure draws ever closer.
On Friday 25 January the Sixth Form PTA hosted a hugely successful charity event, launching the Sixth Form ‘Gambia Project’.
As a result of the School's initial donation, this month, the community in Brufut have been able to start building the well and move to establishing a water supply for their education centre. From the day the pump is installed, water will be available for free 24 hours a day to all neighbouring villagers who haven’t had access to water so far.
