An art and science trip to the Pitt Rivers Museum and Natural History Museum in Oxford proved to be a valuable educational experience for Year 8 girls and boys.
At the Pitt Rivers, pupils saw examples of Pattern and Texture in a historical and cultural context and collected drawings from the collection for their sketchbooks. This term pupils are looking at pattern in class and a tour gave them an opportunity to observe the museums collections and draw patterns from a range of objects. At the Natural History Museum they observed the museum’s collections and completed a course on the Colour of Nature.
Joel Wareing, Senior Girls Head of Art, said:
“It was nice to combine art and science together this year for our trip and I thought both museums and talks complimented each other well. Having a talk in the Natural History museum on 'Colour in Nature' linked the two subjects well.”
