Bushcraft, LEGO And A British Cycling Festival
This week the girls and boys on the Mini, Mid and Kool programme immersed themselves in the world of LEGO in a brick building workshop, in which they were given different tasks, like building pirate ships and a space pirate vehicle! Much to their excitement, a fire engine also came to visit the children, and the fireman gave them a full tour of the vehicle. On Tuesday afternoon, the field at Senior Girls turned into a water park, and the group had lots of fun water sliding!
Meanwhile, children on the Kool Xtra programme enjoyed bushcraft, which taught them survival skills and nature awareness. They also spent a day cooking, after choosing their own recipes to follow, in a ready, steady, cook style! An array of impressive dishes were produced, including blueberry pancakes and pasties. They also made dream catchers on another day - we don’t know how they fit it all in!
A cycle festival led by British Cycling was a fantastic introduction for young riders into the world of cycle sport, and those on the Sport Xtra programme enjoyed high level coaching by British Cycling and lots of racing around a grass circuit at Junior Boys. Next week they will be focusing on racket sports with three days of high quality coaching in Tennis, Badminton and Table Tennis!
