Around The World In Five Days
Countries, cultures and cuisines were explored by children in Holiday Activities over February half term!
The children visited South America and tried tortillas, went to China to taste prawn crackers and make a Chinese dragon, and travelled to North America to design and create a totem pole. Music and instruments from around the world including drums and keyboards were played, and they learnt how to create rhythms and play in synchronisation.
Drama and dance teachers taught the children in the Kool Xtra age group cheerleading, where they practised cheers, dances, stunts and jumps. They put everything they’d learnt together in choreographed routines, which they performed to the children in the Mid and Kool sessions, much to their excitement and awe! On another day, the group also made bulletin boards to display precious notes and photos, and safety pins and seed beads were used to make unusual bracelets.
In Sport Xtra football, girls and boys enjoyed working on penalty taking and practising different techniques.
Anne Halpin, Holiday Activities Administrative Manager, said:
“The children were very busy all week and loved the different activities on offer. We couldn't have asked for better weather and they loved playing in the sunshine in their breaks.”
