Summer Term Chess Tournament

The Claires Court Summer term tournament took place on Monday with 37 pupils taking part.
Mr Richard Hogg, Teacher at Junior Boys said:
“Whilst I will hold off on posting the results until after the prize-giving in our final assembly, I can say that the tournament went really well and the pupils enjoyed it.
I say "pupils" rather than "boys" as, for the very first time, we were joined by a young lady from Junior Girls. Megan Sykes, in becoming the first girl to join our tournaments, sets a precedent (and I hope an example to her peers) that we are looking to build on in the future. The chess club at Junior Girls is in its first year, but after Megan's participation I have no doubt it will go from strength to strength. Very well done and thank you, Megan! I will let Mr Rowan's pictures say the rest. My thanks go out again to Mr Dennis, Mrs Goford, Mrs Burch, Mrs Bintcliffe and Mrs Payne for their ongoing support of chess at Claires Court."
