To round the year off and end on a high, Junior Boys held their Concert and Prize Giving with a very special guest, former pupil and Headmaster of Godstowe Mr David Gainer.
The performance by the Year 3 to 6 boys in was called Porridge by Craig Hawes, was well put together and organised by Drama Teacher Ms Jan Icke and Music Teacher Mr Chris Rowan.
Year 3 were dressed as bears
Year 4 were dressed as robbers/burglars
Year 5 were dressed as police
Year 6 played the main characters.
The play was based on nursery rhymes and fairy tales. With Goldie Lox, Ma Hubbard, Simple Simon, Marigold the cow, Jack Spratt the private detective and the Boys in Blue, Chief Inspector Drain, PC Plod, PC Flatfoot, PC Fuzzbutt and PC Doughnut, trying to solve the crimesin Happy Valley. The Bear Family with Papa Bear and his hoods, the Billy Goat Brothers, were looking to cause mayhem so Papa Bear can build his Porridge Factory and take over the world. Mama Bear and Junior Bear had no idea of the mayhem being planned. The waitresses add the humour with the news team keeping everyone up to date.
Ms Jan Icke said:
“With so many one liners and innuendos galore, the story kept the audience on the edge of their seats. Utter confusion with four identical suitcases carrying Goldie's things, PC Plod's snacks, Papa Bear's stolen recipe book and plans and Cash for the lumberjacks ensured a fast paced and hilarious story. Lumberjacks and nursery rhyme characters all play their role in the story that ends with a very happy ending in Happy Valley. Well done to all the boys for an amazing performance.”
