Pondweed & Cabbage Science
Year 10 investigated the effect of light intensity on photosynthesis. They placed pondweed in a boiling tube and counted the number of bubbles (of oxygen) released in a minute placing it at different distances from a lamp.
They concluded the closer the pondweed was to the lamp the higher the number of bubbles.
Year 7 started the year with an introduction to chemistry in the home. They made an indicator using red cabbage to test whether some everyday kitchen essentials were an acid, alkali or neutral. Who would have thought that cabbages could be so exciting?
