GB Trials for Rowers

Two Claires Court Sixth Formers competed at the GB Rowing Team Junior Regatta, in Nottingham on Sunday 24 April. After a disappointing first race Finlay Gronmark found himself in the C/D semi-finals, where the top position he could achieve was 13th. And that is exactly where he ended up ranking, winning the C final, after some very mature racing.
Ollie Costley had a much better start, as Head of Rowing, Tom Jost explains, “Ollie had a cracking first race, ranking 4th overall. This put him into the A/B semi-finals where he came 2nd to the eventual winner and then in a tough final he came 4th again overall’ against the top J17 in the country. In the process he beat some of the boys that have already been selected for the junior British team, racing at Munich Regatta next weekend. As a result Ollie is through to the next and final round that takes place mid-June and we are hopeful Finlay will get through also. It is a fantastic achievement for them to be currently ranked 4th and 13th in the country.”
