Fantastic Turnout For Chess Festival

The turnout for this year’s annual PTA Chess Festival held on Saturday 11 November at Claires Court Junior Boys was fantastic, with 25 schools coming together. The winners on the day were to be rewarded with a place in the London Championships in December.
Mr Richard Hogg, teacher at Junior Boys said:
“The hope of qualification for the London Championships was of course a great draw for the competitors, but the quality of the chess played was at times truly outstanding with the U12 section the strongest it has ever been.
Well done to all the Claires Court boys who took part and special congratulations to Houning (Kida) Zhu who won the U12 section despite being U10. Special thanks go to Nigel Dennis, Louise Notton-Brown and the PTA team.
I am pleased to announce that Claires Court were the best represented school and won the School competition! I look forward to seeing how next year's tournament comes together!”
The next termly tournament will be held on the afternoon of Monday 11 December between 2 and 6 pm.
Entry will cost £1 and entry forms will be available from Mr Hogg.
