A Nativity with a Modern Twist
At All Saints Church, Lower Junior Boys performed the traditional Christmas story. The celebrations started with Year 2 performing their nativity, A King is Born.
The unfolding story introduced the characters in a creative way and gave the play two time zones. The family in 2017 sitting together, whilst Mary, Joseph, Caesar, The Angel Gabriel, shepherds, Kings and other familiar characters from 2000 years ago came with colour and gifts.
The songs were beautiful and with the help of Reception and Year 1, they came to life. Reception provided us with woolly sheep-Baa- while hens and cows clucked and mooed around Mary and Joseph in the stable. Year 1 were the busy travellers and citizens, struggling through the crowds in Bethlehem being counted in the famous census.
Well done to all involved for making this a wonderful nativity appreciated by parents and staff alike.
Mrs Jane Wood, Year 2 Teacher,
“At last the big day arrived! After several weeks of rehearsals with varying degrees of success and rising stress levels, we were finally in the beautiful setting of All Saints Church. Needless to say the boys pulled the whole Nativity off wonderfully well. They knew their lines, needed no prompting, sang their their hearts out and arrived at their final destination in good time! Thank you boys for all your very hard work.”
