Very well done to all the boys and girls who took part in our autumn term chess tournament this week. In spite of the snow and early finish, the tournament was well attended and Mr Hogg, Head of Chess was delighted to see so many taking part in competitive chess for the first time.
The competition was, as usual, very close with some prizes being decided on the tie-break system. The results are as follows:
U11 trophy winner - Teo Rybak
U11 Runner up - Sam Jeffery
U9 winner - Josh Sharma
U9 Runner up - Houning (Kida) Zhu
The Year medals were awarded to the following boys:
Year 6 Nayan Popat
Year 5 Samuel Tschiesche
Year 4 Aaran Hitschmann
Year 3 Ethan Olikara
Year 2 Tom Avezbakiev
Mr Hogg added,
“My thanks go to all those who helped the tournament run so smoothly - Mr Dennis, Mrs Goford, Mrs Bintcliffe, Miss Hurter and Mr Hugh Wilding (as well as Mrs Cox in the office!).”
