Swimarathon Success!
Recently, Claires Court Sixth Formers took part in The Lions Club of Maidenhead 33rd annual swimarathon at the Magnet Leisure Centre. This is a local community event in which teams are invited to swim for an hour at a time to raise money for local charities and for a charity of their own choice.
Our students decided to raise money for Foodshare. Kally, Chris, Jake, Murdo, Calum, Matthew, Donald, Sam, Henry and Spencer all swam with enthusiasm, relish and just a hint of healthy rivalry! One team completed 77 laps (154 lengths) which was a new school record but the other team beat them by two lengths by completing 78 laps.
Ann Burdett, Head of Maths, who organised the event, said:
“It really was a brilliant effort by the Sixth Form swimmers, and it was lovely that their fellow Sixth Formers, Amy, Alex, Teo and Sam, came along to support their peers.”
Pupils from Junior Girls and Senior Girl Lucy, also swam at the event. Read about their swimarathon here.
